The Scandinavian Language School

We are very pleased with the services provided by The Scandinavian Language School in Prague. Charlotte has proved an excellent teacher for our son allowing him to remember and improve his Danish away from Copenhagen. Tack Charlotte!

I’ve had this romantic vision of knowing Danish for years. No one I know speaks it, it sounds great, looks great… But the first lesson really taught me a lesson. I felt like being trapped. I could not pronounce what I saw written (sometimes even when I heard it first!). But Charlotte gives so much energy into everything, her enthusiasm and sense of humour really does the job here. And gets us through every impossible word. And believe me, there are plenty of them! :) Before I even noticed, I could pronounce things. I can even understand things. It is super cool. Being a working mom of two - my brain literally seeks rest. But every Monday evening, there goes the challenge :) The choice could not be better, though. I love it.

Really good school, with professional and involved professors, accessible even to non Czech speakers. I'm definitely planning to continue Finnish with you, and probably in the future other Scandinavian languages!

The beginner course (false beginners), the zoom class, spring 2021, the teacher was David. I have learned so much as the absolute beginner with the limited free time. David is pleasant, relaxed, engaging and patient. Due to the corona, I took online courses, surprisingly I felt comfortable with this dynamic and the class size. I appreciate that the content was adjusted and clear even for the absolute beginner and I did not feel too overwhelmed with some details and stressed to continue. For me this way works well. I am now able to introduce myself and conduct simple small talk about the family, occupation, hobbies, prepare really simple email about the place and the term of meeting etc, count numbers and express time. My Norwegian friends were impressed although I still do a lot of mistakes even in basic expressions, however I do not worry talk as lessons left this relaxed fearless footprint which seems to me normally as the obstacle. For me the course has good value for money for my expectations and I feel motivated to continue.

The Scandinavian Language School is a great community of language teachers and learners alike, who use modern methods of teaching on relevant topics. I like that it is open to both Czech and international students. I feel that I have made some great progress towards my goals in Danish, that I have made progress in communicating with native speakers and obtaining practical skills for everyday usage. They managed to make online lessons as comfortable as possible during the pandemic as well.

I enrolled one of the courses (Swedish) during lock-down times so I was a bit unsure about what was going to happen and how the course would be held. I was very pleasantly surprised about the communication, every necessary information was sent via an e-mail and in case I needed anything they replied very quickly! It can be a bit of a challenge to learn a new language - especially one that has nearly nothing to do with what I have learned before - but all of my teachers were very helpful, kind and explained everything. I enjoy a lot classes at this school, very friendly and welcoming atmosphere. Started at the level more advanced that my skills, however thanks to the individual approach of the tutor I was able to keep up. Great thing is that we speak a lot and the classes are playful, which make the learning even more natural. Definitely recommend.

The cloistral atmosphere of SLS in Prague reminds me of one of the ancient universities in England. It is a perfect place for study, contemplation and repose. I look forward to continuing my Finnish language studies here.

I am learning Danish at the Scandinavian School, taking private lessons with Charlotte, who is wonderful. The School also organizes many interesting cultural events. I can highly recommend the School.
