For erasmusThe good things:-Cheap prices (between 100-200€ per month)-You will be pertmanently in contact with many students and erasmus-Public transport and supermarket near the buildingThe bad things:-The recepcionist don't speak english, and they are extremely grumpy and desconsiderate, all the workers in general-Disgusting common areas. The ping pong room is horrible, useless. They will kick you out of the TV Room for no reason-No security (thiefs or homeless people go inside climbing through the windows)-Old, small and nasty kitchens for 40 people-They don't provide anything, such as toilet paper in the bathrooms.

I stayed there in the hostel part. Pretty expensive compared to how ugly it is. There is no extra toilet/shower/bathroom for the guests, they need to use the normal, dormitory one. The service is usually awful.

Disgusting rooms, shared bathrooms and showers, old building, rude receptionists and administrators who also don't speak English. Loud and noisy at nights, poor maintenence support, small fridges, barely any space for personal privacy in shared rooms. Few available cooking spaces, only 3 washing machines for an entire floor of 20-30 people. Vending machines aren't working. Seeing good reviews about this place is a disgrace.. Perhaps those people have low living standarts, but i can assure you, there is nothing good about this place and the photos on display are fake. Move out as soon as you can.

Receptionists yell at you for jo apparent reason, they don't know english (where at least 80% of the students living here are international), pretty depressing rooms, single rooms are usually not available, 50% of toilets are not renovated, other shower cabins are transparent, WiFi works badly, no chairs in kitchen, other facilities are barely functional, a typical Soviet building, police inside the building. It's cheap tho. 160 euros for single room, 110 for a doule and good connection to the center, 20-25 min via tram and metro (petřiny-line A is in 10 min walk)

kolej je moc levna, ale kvalita ubytovani odpovida ceneThe nice environment around is a big big plus for me.It is maybe one of the cheapest place in Prague. You have to lower your expectations. No one repairs things here.

Was the worst accommodation I have ever stayed in. Receptionists dont speak English which is a huge problem, sockets in my room continually stopped working which meant the fridge stopped working and all my food got spoilt. Toilets are unisex which is quite odd and all the cubicles dont have locks which is a big problem. Kitchen smelt due to poor waste disposal, part fault of the residents and part of the cleaner. Very unfriendly residents as well. I found the fact that it was shared rooms quite odd as in the UK that is unheard of at unis. and the room was too small to be shared. Door of my room continually jammed which meant I kept getting locked out and it was impossible to communicate to the receptionist.

Near the centre with tram (10min to metro line A) yet in the middle of a lush green residental area with supermarkets nearby. But the B blok is the best, with renovated showers (A and C block have common communist style showers...).

I stayed here for almost 5 months during an ERASMUS+ exchange (the EU exchange programme), and my overall opinion of the Větrník Dormitories is that it's good enough. Nothing amazing, but definitely enough for a short-term stay, such as an exchange. It's also quite cheap (€120-ish per month) which is a clear advantage for students. For any longer durations (1 year or more) I'd personally look for a flat or something similar.Below I'll go into more detail about the rooms, facilities, location and communications. I lived in Block III during my time here so most of my experiences concern that building. However, I believe a lot is the same across the blocks. The rooms:Kolej Na Větrníku offers both single and double rooms, some 12 square metres in size. The rooms come with beds, desks, a wardrobe, some shelves and a small fridge (with a freezing compartment). There is not room for much else. Most of the furniture is quite old and worn.Smoking is not allowed in the building, except for in designated smoking rooms. If you live in a double room you'll get a same-sex roommate, or if you have a friend who will also stay in the dorm then you can ask to share with them. The corridors:Each corridor has a number of bedrooms (20 or so), a kitchen and a restroom+shower area. The kitchen is about the size of a bedroom and has a table, sink, stove with oven, and a microwave. Pots, pans, etc. is not available so you must bring it yourself. Due to there only being one stove per corridor only two or three people can cook at once. I know some people were cooking in their own rooms using their own equipment. The kitchen tended to be quite messy as people didn't clean after themselves, unfortunately. The restrooms are shared between men and women and are generally in good quietly. The showers (also shared) are booths with frosted glass doors which offer some decent privacy.Other facilities:Mail is delivered to small mailboxes by the reception, or is kept in the reception if it's too big.Block III has one laundry room with 3 washing machines and 3 tumble driers. You pay per use.Block III offers a few study rooms, one which has a TV and a piano. There is also a room with table soccer. Block IV has a ping pong table, and block II has a party room and a gym. All these activities are pay-per-hour, except the gym where you buy a card, but generally cheap (<€1 per hour). There are also guest rooms available for visitors. In the same building as block I and II is a nice pub (Do Větru), which is open for everyone (i.e. not only students living there).Staff:The staff in the receptions don't speak English which is quite unfortunate, though its still possible to get by using dictionaries and Google translate. The staff in the accommodation office (who deal with contracts, rent payments, etc.) are English-speaking.Location:Kolej Na Větrníku is located in the north east section of Prague, about 6 km from the city centre. It is a typical residential area with some stores, pubs, etc. in the vicinity. A larger supermarket is only a 10-minute walk away. Behind the dormitory is Břevnov Monastery with a beautiful park and garden, and not far away is a stadium.Communications:A few hundred metres from the dormitories is a bus and tram stop. The buses take you to and from the airport (without changing lines), and the trams into the city. It's about 15 minutes to the city centre, and 25 to Karlovo Náměšti (near which the faculty of science is located).10 minutes walk from the dormitories, just by the supermarket, is also a metro station (line A/green line).
