The beautiful baroque chateau Dětenice is an ideal place not only for a trip or a visit, just because the chateau includes a beautiful 4 ha chateau park. According to legend, Dětenice was founded in the place where Prince Oldřich, in the middle of the 11th century, while driving through the region, found two abandoned boys, whom he wished for. He took them and left several of his people with them to protect and educate them. According to the found children, the local settlement was called Dětenice.

It's a very small castle in the middle of nowhere. Village Detenice.The castle is rather poor but worth seeing. Inside tour is 0.5 hour, organized.The tickets you could acquire at the park entrance - small wooden booth.A little problem. Do not speaking any language but Czech!!! A little bit German?!You should buy the ticket which includes the Castle tour and the Show!We wait approx 20 min for a tour inside the Castle - another surprise... Nobody speaks English/German/Spanish/French just Czech. So they provide you with some pages of text in English describing each hall and finger point you on where you are at the very moment :-)But the real pearl and I mean It is a Knight Fight show.WORTH each penny you spent on the tickets to the castle. It's a real knights fight with horses and spears. There were 5-6 horsed knights on the show. Wonderful. But again they speak in Czech - so you could only guess the scenario. Nevertheless - kids were astonished with the beauty and professional horse work of the knights.The Show lasts about an hour. After it you could take picture of yourselves with knights and horses/Another attraction - medieval tavern - they have an evening show in tavern - bandits, pirates, knights and so on.We didn't stay as the show in tavern starts after 18:00. But the food in tavern is good (not a much of delicious - but the attraction is the eating in tavern).After all:Castle = 3 of 5Knights Show = 5+ of 5Tavern = 4 of 5Average = 4+Great attraction for kids 4-15 I suppose!

The show is very expensive. For both show and visit it cost 1100 crona for family. The show include a lot of talking and it only in the native language... No english... So you can't understand. It nice but we saw better in Holand

Nice stylish place that allows you to turn off and enjoy alternative world than your usuall.I'm not sure whether the swearing is authentic. I think that even back then politeness was usuall. But who knows. I didn't have a big problem with it. And it makes the visit recallable.

12 years ago we had a wonderful wedding party in the garden and the grill place at the backside of the brewery. All our guests were surprised by the ambiance and the Czechs and Dutch people merged very well. Great place we still visit for a diner once in two years.

A great place for families who want to take their children to a theme park. Yes. It's basically a medieval theme park but with a real castle inside. The place also passes a a good 2nd or 3rd date but for me personally it was a date no 15 and went well. :-) Would rather suggest something less crowded. Back to the theme park. The attractions are not what you would normally expect. The atmosphere is remarkable and and very hard to describe for foreigners, but at the same time it's stereotypical Czech behaviour which feels like late 19th century.One big downside is that the whole place designed to bleed you dry from any cash you might have on you faster than Steam or Amazon holiday sales. So if you want to eat there and spend a day with your family you need to keep your mortgage in mind.But of course. If you just want want to walk in the park, visit the castle and perhaps have a cup of coffee, it's OK.Why only three stars? It is a nice place for sure, but there is nothing that would make me return and look forward to visiting again. Perhaps I am too old or perhaps I like my dates to be more intimate.. Who knows.. :-)

Right at the beginning of the tour, an older woman scolded two adults like small children, for sitting on a bench (without do not sit" sign)

It is a very nice and well preserved castle. The rooms are having authentic furniture, the tour is taking u on the ground floor, 7 or 8 rooms, than the first floor, 10 rooms.Our guide knew English and offered us many info.

The gardens are beautiful in a nice day.The castle itself is stuffy, tours are only in Czech and not quite welcoming.The knights tournament is nice for kids, even those who don't speak Czech. However, most of the show is talking between the knights and in Czezh.
