The Marian Column was erected in 1650 after the victory on the White Mountain. But later it was demolished in celebration of independence from Austro Hungarian empire in 1918. In 1918 Czechoslovakia appeared.The Column was set back in 2020.At 12:00 (13:00) the shadow of the Column falls on the brick line.

This is an amazing and beautiful column made as a replica of the original column which stood for many centuries until 1918. It complements the Old Town Square like a charm and makes the latter look like an actual, traditional square. Some locals are strongly opposed to it, but those are people who don't have a life, are marxist, or they still live in the year 1918 stuck in the past. I hope a documentary is made one day because the story behind the building of the column is quite fascinating itself.
