Arcibiskupský palác

Archbishop's Palace on Hradčany Square is one of the most important Czech architectural monuments. It was built between 1676 and 1679 according to the design of Jean Baptist Mathey at the site of an older Renaissance palace. The present appearance comes from the reconstruction of the 1960s, designed by architect Jan Josef Wirch. There were several burgher houses on this plot. Then Florián Gryspek of Griesbach has already acquired a complete joined plot in 1538 and he continued the construction. In 1562 the palace was reassigned to the Sovereign, and he then gave it to Archbishop Antonín Brus of Mohelnice. He let to rebuild the palace according to the design of B. Wohlmut with the construction leadership of Hans Tyrol. Sgraffito in the courtyard has been preserved from the Renaissance style.Arcibiskupský palác na Hradčanském náměstí je jednou z významných českých architektonických památek. Byl vystavěn v letech 1676 - 1679 podle návrhu Jeana Baptisti Matheye v místech staršího renesančního paláce. Současná podoba pak pochází z přestavby z 60. let 18. století, kterou navrhl architekt Jan Josef Wirch. Na této parcele stálo několik měšťanských domů. Již zcelenou parcelu získal 1538 Florián Gryspek z Griesbachu a pokračoval ve stavbě rozestavěného paláce. Roku 1562 postoupil palác panovníkovi a ten ho dal k disposici nově jmenovanému arcibiskupovi Antonínu Brusovi z Mohelnice. Ten si nechal palác přestavět dle návrhu B. Wohlmuta za vedení Hanse Tirola. Z renesanční podoby se dochovalo sgrafito na nádvoří.

It's raining heavily outside, they don't allow anyone to shelter from the rain at the door, they let everyone out and close the door at 3:00pm! No matter how beautiful the building is, it is very disappointed and disgusting!
