Depends who you get to go to. On one occasion it can be the best experience with public office ever, on the other occasion it can be as frustrating as it usually is. Half of the agenda could be done online or via post (I would never thought I'll use the later as a mean for anything, but still better than wasting your time going here for a paper that could have been sent). Half of the documents you are supposed to bring are not needed in the end as they see plenty of data online. But then you miss one that can be substituted and your visit is over. Why in the world is Prague 3 area assigned to this office, will remain a mystery to me. It's a half day vacation off work to visit, even if you are scheduled. Scheduling appointments online is much appreciated. Entrance is on the opposite side of where the pin on the map is located and there are no signs on the other sides of the building to direct you.

We came to the ministry without appointments and as expected, we had to wait behind a long queue. The numbers get called fast, so it didn't really take me an entire day. We were served by Mr. Filip Vančo, who seemed younger than his other colleagues yet worked in a very professional way. He nicely and willingly spoke English when I said I can only speak a bit of Czech, so I understood his instructions well and we finished rather quick. He also patiently explained the next steps I have to take and even told me which offices to go to, so he was an excellent help! I hope this is the case for everyone at the ministry because they are expected to deal with foreigners everyday.

As a foreigner with past very negative experiences at the Chodov MOI office, I (like many) was dreading my appointment and fearing the worst.However, I was very pleasantly surprised. My appointment was for Weds afternoon, and I was called 5 minutes earlier than my scheduled appointment time, despite the hall being quite busy. The lady I saw spoke good English and explained everything clearly.The MOI office -- located on the third floor of a building near a large supermarket -- is well signposted inside in English, but leave yourself an extra 5 mins to locate it, as it's quite hidden. One observation was that there was a lengthy queue for the info" desk

I am wondering why this place low rated, I was there for three times and did not have any issue. The staff is welcoming and very helpful. If you did not book an appointment then it is not MOI fault , it is yours. If you cannot speak Czech then you should not expect them to surely able to speak English. You are in their country, they are not in your country.

It's the third time I have to go this year and to my surprise everyone was nice, spoke English and even Italian today. I always go a bit scared on how I will be able to communicate since I do not speak Czech, but I had good experiences so far. Online appointments work well, waiting time if you have an appointment it's not long, and even when they had to call me over the phone they communicated with me in English.

Book your appointment upfront if possible & be here 15-20m before the appointment. Call center is very well organized and informed - rather prepare your questions (English / Czech doesn’t matter) and solve them there rather than going here.English skills are limited for some staff - use google translate English / Czech for stuff you need and have it ready in phone.If you don’t have appointments - arrive 7am, 7.30 place open gates and starts printing the tickets, 8am start to serve clients.You might get lucky and wait couple minutes, or for specific agenda - unlucky and wait 3-4h still.3 stars for lack of English skills and lack of English labels around the building (which is just stupid given the fact main client of this place are non-Czech speaking people).

The people were nice and polite. The only issue with the ministry is their procedures are not updated to coincide with purchasing insurance as a foreigner. There are a lot of misinformed employees. Also you will have to file a separate application for a social security number to work in the czech republic. I came here married to a czech national not as someone seeking asylum who has the system stacked in their favor.
