THE FIZZ Prague Holešovice
The Fizz is a very good concept for a residence and for meeting people. However, after 9 months here, it leaves a lot to be desired. The first thing is that they charge you excessive amounts for everything, even on many occasions not because of you, but because of the use of the facilities and they claim that you have broken them. In addition, you cannot access all the common areas that are included in the price, such as the cinema room or the Sky Lounge. On the other hand, the price of the laundry is excessively high for a student residence. As for the cleanliness of the common areas, many corridors and staircases are very dirty and have broken equipment (as can be seen in the photos). As a Spanish resident, I have felt displaced and affected by certain racist situations towards my community (as can be seen in the other photos). Also, the employees of the residence demand that we keep (with an air of superiority) our room and the facilities in perfect condition, but when something breaks down, they ignore it and you have to be behind them for a long time (in my case, the extractor hood in my room has been broken since the day I moved in). Finally, the residence is constantly under construction and there is a lot of noise which does not allow you to rest properly. And if you are in the kitchen talking after midnight, they will throw you out in a bad way.

In January, I came to visit my son. At the reception, I was warmly welcomed and offered an extra bed. The room is small but bright and cozy. There is everything for a comfortable stay. I liked the additional services: laundry, laundry drying, shared kitchen. Everything is very clean and easy to use.

Living in The Fizz Prague was a nice experience, so I will try to a complete insight from my experience:PROS- Fizz Prague has very nice conditions for you to live. The building is clean, the rooms are in excellent conditions and their aesthetic is very pleasant. The garden is one of the most beautiful I’ve ever seen in a residential building. You can enjoy several communal places (movie room, music room, garden, common kitchens, terraces), but if you need your privacy, you also have a kitchenette and your private toilet in your room.- Fizz organizes events such as trips, parties, barbecues, etc., so you have opportunities to bond with the people who live and work there. This was fundamental for me, as every event was so nice to get to know people and have fun.- The people who work there (especially Jan, Anthony and Dan, to whom I am very very grateful) were very nice and kind, and that was a major factor because it feels nice to have these kind of people in your environment. They are always patient to answer your questions and even party with you in the events.- The location is great: the tram and metro are just right in front of the building, and there is a lot of stuff to see around.CONS- When you’re leaving The Fizz, someone from the reception comes to inspect your room, in order to see the damages. But it seems that we are charged for just LIVING in the room: if you have the slightest scratch or stain in one of your walls, you will be charged for that. And it’s impossible not to do it, specially if you use your room in a daily basis. You’re blaming people for USING their space and that is not fair; architecture only makes sense when you USE space, and in this case we paying for using it. In my opinion, it should be included in your stay a final cleaning of your room and a basic paint, if you already now that you’re going to charge it anyway. This is also bad for the Fizz workers who are inspecting the rooms, as they are constantly in conflict with people because they have to charge for every single thing, otherwise they have to pay from their pocket.- I cannot understand how there isn’t any protection in the kitchen wall: the plaster easily gets stained because of drops of grease, detergents and etc.- You can rent things like Monopoly, Uno, chess, Billiards, vacuum cleaner and etc. for free. But watch out, because you can only use these things for a certain amount of time, and you will be charged by each day you’re late returning it.- You have to pay to use the garage, the cleaning and drying machines.- Because of some badly-behaved people, the community can only use the common kitchen until 12pm. Even if you’re not doing any noise, you have to exit this room. Other example, the sky lounge terrace was closed for several months for the same reason. I think these ‘punishments’ are not fair at all, because it seems that everyone is jeopardized every time just because of one small group of people.ADVICES/SUGGESTIONSWhen you arrive to your room for the first time, make sure you test everything: chair, windows, taps, toilet, cabinets, etc., so you’re able to notify the reception of problems that might appear. If you notice anything 48 hours after you arrive, it will be ‘your’ fault. Also check the silicone next to the kitchen sink, because I had to pay to repair the plastic wall next to the sink (because it lacked silicone, and so it didn’t protect the wall from the water) - I think it was quite unfair because there was no way I could detect or remember that I to check if the silicone was alright.- Be careful when you cook so you don’t damage the wall next to the sink, because that’s the wall that is more easily stained.- To clean these type of walls (plaster), use the “magical eraser”.- I know the ‘Erasmus’ or simply the young spirit makes you act sometimes like an idiot, but try to be respectful to everyone in the community and also help a little bit in what you can, because if everyone contributes positively to this place, it’s a nicer experience for everyone that lives and works here!

Fizz is quite good. Staying over the year was almost perfect. Pluses - good transportation connection, community(only one nation was there quite loud, I would not clarify), events are fascinating, common areas, entertainments. Quite expensive laundry and rent without discount as well to expansive for us. But I still liked the stay, hope to see again!!And thanks a lot to Dan and Jan! ❤️

Let me give you some insights in what it means to stay at The Fizz Prague. As the reviews here are mainly so to say „paid“ by offering tenants nice benefits for giving a good review, I want to resumee what it means to live here.First the pros: modern building with garden, big walls, good to reach by public transport, cool neighborhood, nice events (mainly not for free). If you are new to the city or an erasmus student its worth staying here for some months, as long as prices don‘t matter to you. You pay an all-in rent and thats it (theoretically)So let me tell you what else you should expect there unfortunately:Once you moved there you see thats all about money in this place. When they will introduce you to the dorm you‘ll be confronted with many different rules and especially fees for everything. Let me give you an insight (if you forgot your key in the room and they open it with their key (20€), you wanna move out? 100% sure they will find a small spot on your wall so they can charge you for painting whole room again. You don‘t put vacuum cleaner back on time? Again a fee ...)This all creates a feeling of being a living pocket. Probably the pressure on the reception crew is high, anyways for a 12-13sqm room rent of atleast 500€ you expect not being bothered with additional charges. For example doing laundry will cost you more than 3.5€ each machine and you can‘t add your personal detergent. Also discrimination is something you might experience in the Fizz. For example there is a quite big spanish community and some of them are really loud and bothering other students. Anyways its not acceptable that there were official poster in common areas that say „no spanish here“.Theoretically there are technicans who help you with technical issues. Also fire alarms is something you should expect anytime (test alarms, real alarms and a misuse of the loud speakers in your room). If you really like the concept of co-living and being surrounded by other young people and students, than you don‘t have an alternative in Prague unfortunately. The Fizz could be a vibrant community place but unfortunately the desire of making money destroys all the potential. I know brands that do ways better. For example The Student Hotel, a dutch company.

This is the real modern student living dorm. Really clean, modern and crowded. Good for learning sessions and to find new friends for life.
