We leave the beautiful place towards Turnov. Here, a sign pointing to the Hruby Rohozec Castle arouses our interest. We look at this from the outside. Today's neo-Gothic castle goes back to a castle from the 16th century and has changed hands several times. In the course of the Thirty Years' War it first came to Wallenstein, who gave it to a loyal colonel. So it came into the hands of the Flemish Desfours family, who owned it until World War II.

Very nice castle! I recomend guided tours you will learn a lot of interesting facts about the castle and its past inhabitants. Also almost all furniture and equipment is original.

The first as well as the second tour were quite interesting, with excellent guides. Especially the second tour touches upon relatively recent history up to WWII, showing very nicely the common life of the nobility at that times.

Very good museum with lots of exhibitions. It really reflects realities of old times and enables person to immerse deeply into the past. Prices are not high and tour guide is detailed.

Beautiful chateau with rich and interesting history, full of original furniture and equipment, and very nice staff. Offers a great look into what living for Czech nobility in 18th to early 20th century looked like.
