The Moravian Museum is a large museum located in the city of Brno, Czech Republic. It is one of the oldest and most important museums in the country, with a history dating back to the early 19th century. The museum's collections cover a wide range of topics related to the history and culture of the Moravia region, including archaeology, geology, natural history, art, and cultural heritage. The museum is also home to a number of important historical artifacts, including some of the oldest human remains ever discovered in Europe, as well as a collection of medieval manuscripts and rare books. One of the most notable exhibits at the Moravian Museum is the Anthropos Pavilion, which showcases the history of human evolution and the development of human culture over time. The exhibit includes a range of interactive displays and multimedia presentations, as well as a collection of rare and unique artifacts.Other highlights of the museum include a collection of traditional Moravian folk costumes and textiles, a large display of historical weapons and armor, and an extensive collection of art and decorative objects from the region.Overall, the Moravian Museum is a must-visit destination for anyone interested in the rich history and culture of the Czech Republic, and offers a fascinating look into the history and heritage of the Moravia region.

The temporary exhibition (pottery and archaeology) and the exhibition about Moravia in the 20th century were definitely worth visiting. Sadly the other permanent exhibitions are extremely outdated and not available in other languages besides Czech. These exhibitions seemed to have been unchanged since the 1980's, and this is such a shame since it's evident the museum has a collection with so much potential. They could really create an impressive museum of natural history if they modernised their permanent exhibitions. Would wholeheartedly advise the Moravian Museum to anyone who wants to visit a museum, depicting a museum 50 years ago.

We came for the modern history section. It was closed but that wasn’t indicated anywhere until we had bought tickets and entered. The two open exhibits are fine but pretty underwhelming and not accessible unless you speak Czech. It would be better to put signs up if they close half the museum.

Very nice traditions museum. Nothing is interactive and there is minimal english translation (I don't speak Czech). The objects themselves are really nice. Spend 2h there has fun!

Moravské zemské muzeum
Museum's permanent exhibit is really out of date and the layout is not easily understood (lots of logical areas were off limits as they were special exhibition tickets only). Minerals are nice but the only language is in Czech, nothing is translated and it's obvious they haven't bothered to update any of the placards as there are minerals from countries that don't even exist anymore.

I highly recommend visiting this museum. It consists of three floors, there is an elevator. Each floor has the appearance of a spiral, which allows you to gradually examine all the exhibits. I advise you to start from the first floor and move up, then you can move according to the chronological sequence. On the first floor there is a small separate section with the history of the development of comics. By the way, children will also be very interested, there is a TV that broadcasts cartoons, a board where you can draw your comic and a lot of props (wigs, hats, toy weapons). Also on the first floor fossils, dinosaurs and the process of formation of the Earth are shown. As well on the first floor there is an incredible collection of crystals and minerals, it was quite cool to see the countries of extraction and areas of application, as well as the crystal structure. On the second floor, it was possible to follow the development of life in the territory of Southern Morava, from the first tools to the Middle Ages. On the third floor, are already the 19th and 20th centuries, the Second World War and the Prague Spring. There are a lot of interactive exhibits absolutely everywhere, which increases curiosity and understanding of what is seen. The staff is also very pleasant, they speak Czech, English and Russian. You can buy inexpensive souvenirs at the cash desk. The photo below shows the view from the window of the museum.

If you don't speak Czech, go strait to the top floor with the 20th century history exhibits. That part was also in English and the most interesting and modern. The rest of the building is really only for Czech language speakers. Well worth going to see that floor with the 20th century history I thought.
