Nice museum. with a small but good exposition

Free student entry, very interesting artifacts. Beautiful building with even more beautiful views of the city with no tourist jams and selfie sticks.Visit!

The current exhibition of zenga was splendid and we really enjoyed it, but one member of the security staff ruined our experience by making very rude and impolite comments, I suggest a change of staff immediately if you want the next people visiting feeling comfortable.

The Classicist three-wing building of the Salm Palace at Hradčanské Square is the exhibition space of the National Gallery in Prague. The building was commissioned between 1800 and 1811 by Prague Archbishop Vilém Florentin, Prince Salm-Salm, designed by František Pávíček (Pawitschek) on the site where several smaller aristocratic residences used to stand. Originally it was a luxury apartment building, which belonged to the Schwarzenbergs since 1811. They connected it to the neighboring Schwarzenberg Palace. The palace served as the Prague residence of the Schwarzenbergs family until 1945. In the post-war period it was nationalized and used for foreign service. Since 2003, he has been in charge of the National Gallery. An extensive reconstruction took place in 2008 - 2012.Klasicistní trojkřídlá budova Salmovského paláce na Hradčanském náměstí je výstavním prostorem Národní galerie Praha. Původně se mělo jednat o luxusní bytový dům, jenž od roku 1811 náležel Schwarzenbergům, kteří jej spojili se sousedním Schwarzenberským palácem. Jako pražská rezidence Schwarzenberků sloužil palác až do roku 1945. V poválečném období byl zestátněn a využíván pro zahraniční službu. Od roku 2003 je ve správě Národní galerie. V letech 2008 – 2012 proběhla rozsáhlá rekonstrukce.

The current exhibition didn’t have a consistent theme and felt like an arbitrary collection of pieces. The building is nice but it’s unclear how to walk through the exhibit because of many doors. There aren’t guards in each room so they follow you through the exhibit which is awkward. Some artworks weren’t well lit / too darkly lit which is a shame. Overall we weren’t impressed, even if some of the individual artworks were fantastic.

Great exhibitions and displays, definitely worth looking around (especially for the relatively cheap entry fee) even if just to get an hour of peace away from the tourist hotspot of Prague castle. The layout was slightly confusing, there were alot of doors which were locked or lead nowhere that were listed on the map as having artwork in them. Definitely go if you're interested in modern art - it gave off Tate Gallery vibes quite a bit.

I’d give at least two hours because there are a lot to see.

Perfectly done! 2016Now in 2019 it was even better.SALM MODERN #1: DIMENSIONS OF DIALOGUE- this was on.It was PERFECT.Keep in mind: if you do not like contrmporary art stay away and use your Time better.But if you do.. You are just in the perfect place.

It's nice . Specially in Christmas time , u can find Christmas market with food up there.Very nice view to the city. U can fine a Starbucks coffee with the best view. Will not take u alot of time to get to the palace and the castle.Usually it colder than the old city area, so be carful.Many restaurants and coffee shops u can find on your way.
