ZOO Olomouc

Beginning of March is perhaps not a good time to visit. You pay entry fee same as in a high season, which is not reflecting what you can see and do. !! Bored staff selling tickets , you walk in a mud pathways in some cases, half closed walks, preparation for repairs ( which are announced for mid of March but surely started already), no animals to spot or hidden. It felt like very old, tired, boring zoo. But I believe this Zoo will have something better to offer in summer. Now Only few facilities and food places were open, over half of kids playgrounds are not possible to use. Positive score for: plenty of bin areas around and clean toilet. Parking was free which I think is only for now, not summer.

We came quite late (noon) on Sunday, even thought the weathere was not quite good, it was stuffed. All official parking was full, queues everywhere, wait for a hotdog at a stall was 40 minutes.Zoo is in the middle of a reconstruction, so some expositions are empty, still several are very nice.The monkey enclosure with a brodge is great, the semi open bat pavilion woth fruitbats flying over your heads in near darkness, aquariums, new leopard enclosure.We finished the whole thing within 90 minutes ( we did not queue for hotdog).

Great ZOO. All the pavilions were open. We've seen sharks, ant-eater, honey badger and many more animals we've seen for the first time in our lives. We also had a close encounter with a pack of wolfs, which was a bit scary. Part of the zoo is being renovated and it will be finished at the end of 2022, but it doesn't really hinder anyhow.

An interesting zoo apparently with out 40species including Apes, giraffes, lemurs etc.. very wild-like imitating their natural habitat, zoo vláček providing a mini tour with a minitrain :)

Fantastic zoo and was definitely worth leaving Prague for.Animal variety is extremely impressive and they are treated well by the friendly and passionate zoo staff.In contrast to many other zoos the animals are always clearly visible, while also assuring that they have the opportunity to remain unseen and undisturbed if they feel like it. There are also plenty of opportunities for getting up close with many of the animals, which can lead to some unforgettable interactions.There are also plenty of bathrooms, and kiosks where you can buy food, snacks, and dessert among other things. The zoo is also extremely well maintained and clean, making it a pleasant visiting experience.The only factor weighing down my score is the lack of credit card support in most if not all of the facilities in the zoo, which makes it important to bring cash in case you need snacks, drinks or you get hungry, while exploring the zoo.

Zoo is well maintained and has enough exhibits and attractions for two hours. I’d recommend to visit in summer or spring. Winter months has very limited services running although you can still visit the zoo’s restaurant. Animal shelters vary in quality, some of them were under construction, hopefully for the better.

Large zoo but few animals comparable with other zoos.

So, my wife and I came here 9 years ago and it was one of our favorite zoos of all time--calm, built into the forests and hills, stocked with interesting local fauna that many zoos don't have, a really chill and inviting place. We couldn't wait for the kids to be old enough to appreciate it.That zoo was nowhere to be found when we finally returned last weekend. What we found was a jam-packed amusement park of the most exotic animals imaginable. It was great! But not built for the crowds it attracts and wants to attract. EVERYTHING here is interesting. There's something to !wow! about around every corner--if only you could stop long enough to appreciate it or get eighteen pairs of shoulders out of the way long enough to admire.The enclosures are beautiful and well thought out. The animals are safe and have territory. The bats--the bathouse is unbelievable! The white wolves look a little dolorous but still, they have half the park to roam. You hope the giraffes don't step on the prairie dogs! You can't believe the size of the boa constrictor. But you want all these humans to go somewhere for lunch so you can see it all.A great zoo! But very packed. And there's a tower. I don't know why but it's kind of neat. Highly recommend if you like zoos that care more about the animals than the people, which we do. Oh, also though, there's lots of opportunity for snacks and food, it's very well stocked. You'll be pleased.
