Engawa Yakiniku & Sushi
A lot of potential but terrible execution. My girlfriend and I arrived at Engawa with high expectations and excitement after reading the reviews and since it was our first sushi dinner in the city. We were met with disappointing service and a long wait for the food. The restaurant was understaffed with only one server/manager and one very eager to help trainee, that couldn't do a lot without the permission of the manager. While the trainee did notice us, and tried to guide the manager to get to us, the manager kept walking by us and completely ignoring us for most the night. Asking one simple question about the menu took us half an hour because the manager wouldn't get to us and the trainee didn't know the answer. Once we finally got the opportunity to order, which once again took half an hour, the manager left in the middle of the order to supposedly get a pen, but instead he began taking out orders to a different table and walking around the restaurant. After another 5-10 minutes he approached us again and took our order. We ordered 3 starters a couple rolls and 2 soups. It's important to highlight that every single meal was amazing and we loved every bite, the chef was great and without the good food we would've been really disappointed. The soups were taken out to the wrong table twice but once they got to us they were amazing. The pickled vegetables that tasted great too, were unfortunately given to us after a 40 minute wait and after all the other appetizers. The vegetables were a very small appetizer that was clearly forgotten about by the staff and had no reason to be that late. each roll tasted amazing and fresh, but after such terrible service it was hard to stay happy. We tried to soften the mood by ordering desserts. One of them wasn't suitable for our taste and they took it out of the bill without a problem, which was unfortunately one of the only highlights of our service experience in the restaurant. The food was great but the terrible service left me wondering why didn't I just order some takeout.

Great ramen and yakinikuuu!!!I was a bit worried since the latest review was low lol but the ramen I ordered was so delicious and authentic!(Japanese approved☺️)I ordered Miso ramen with Pork chashu, but its not just miso but also some great pork flavor (maybe) in it, which is even more my favorite! If it’s just miso soup, it’s pretty easy find at any Asian restaurants in Europe as “ramen”, which is not really authentic to me. Chashu was also good!I have some plans to come back to Prague in near future, so I’ll definitely visit again for the same ramen! They also had Shoyu (soy sauce) ramen with chicken, but ramen with chicken is not my favorite, So I didn’t try.Yakiniku was also great! We ordered three karubi and one pork belly. Yakiniku in Europe is usually very expensive, so the price was understandable.I’m very happy to find this place:)

Amazing and authentic Japanese food! We had the lunch menu, all the dishes are very nice with reasonable price. Also the staff is friendly. Highly recommended!

We went here for sushi stayed for the ramen! Super tasty food and good sized portions. Friendly staff with great suggestions. Would go here again next time I am in Praha.

Friendly and helpful staff. Mochi icecream and rice icecream are really good.Shabu-shabu we had was too bland and ramen was too salty.

Great spot for a date night! Nice atmosphere and amazing food. It was a fun experience cooking over the charcoal grill and the taste was incredible.

Delicious Japanese food in the new town area. A bit pricey but fresh and tasty. They have a special ramen promotion after lunch till 6pm for ramen on buy 1 + free 1 arrangements (reservation needs to be made prior). We didn’t get to try it but saw some people who had the good fortune to. My favourite dish was our Gyu Tan grilled over a smokey fire.

Very unique place.Very fresh fish, cool dishes. Prices not low, but in cost it.This place much more better then some fish places in Prague.You should understand, this place - restaurant. Thanks mean hight prices, small but very beautiful dishes. Just relax and enjoy your food.P.S also, good sake.

The most authentic Japanese restaurant in Prague I know by far, I have kept visiting numerous times with family and friends. Whether you are looking for savory of what Japan has to offer in its cooking diversity, or a real high quality feast, this is the place to go.Recommend: Wagyu and lamb yakiniku. Beef ramen, and all their sushi platter especially the crunchy rolls
