They try in every possible way not to help you.Not even bother going there if you do not speak at least a bit of czech.I had to go there 4 times to get the license driver because each time they asked for new documents to prove my residence. At the last attempt I had a folder fully staffed with residence permit, utility bills, bank statements, rent contract and trade license. On the last day I was so happy like I reached some great achievement.

Fast and professional service. One of the best institutions I dealt with in Czechia.

Czech Beaureacracy at its best....., If you are a foreigner, they will make sure you visit multiple times to get a stupid thing such as driving licence.... enough waste of time...Thank you...I am even rethinking my decision to come to Czech... and they don't value anyone's time

I've heard a lot of horror stories but maybe I just got lucky. I don't speak much Czech but i know basic words (driving license, passport, health insurance, sign here etc)As a non European I came withCzech biometric ID card (less than 6 months old)Passport with stamps (evidence I've been travelling here for years)Confirmation of study (it was in English but she was okay with it because 2018 in English is 2018 in Czech)Residence contract from a year ago and current oneHealth insurance, also over a year old.All went smoothly despite my limited Czech.

-Is Czech needed? Yes, get an interpreter if you don't speak the language.-Are the people nice? Absolutely, spoke with 3 different ladies and they were all lovely and super helpful.-Is the system stupid? Yes, but that's up to the Czech government and not being clear about what you need to show as an EU citizen to prove that you have lived here for more than 6 months. All the 3 ladies asked me for different things (and hence my 3 visits).

The lady who supposedly helped me to get my license. First thing is first, when you are greeted by another person, although this person may not speak your language completely, it’s quite inappropriate to stare and say basically nothing. On the following moment, I have told you that my Czech is not the best and this was the moment that you really crossed the border and start insulting me in your own language. I told you, my Czech isn’t the best but I understand a good chunk of your insults towards me. I am sorry that you have to face with this but your behaviour wasn’t acceptable. There was literally no need to insult me in this way just because I was honest and telling you my status with language. Foreigner fellows , please make sure you have someone who can speak Czech before you have your appointment in this place. Luckily the First Lady was super helpful and friendly although i didn’t speak that much Czech on that day either. For the records, todays comment is only about the lady who was on the 3rd section.

I went yesterday to the Vehicle Registry Office in order to exchange my Country Driving License ( I am an EU citizen, so watch out if you are a third country national as the process is a bit different). The process was smooth and easy. Also note that my Czech is not great at all, (basic I'd say) and I was able to complete the process in 10 minutes. My recommendations:1. Book a reservation on-line. The office was not crowded at all but having a booked reservation helps.2. If you do not speak Czech, try to memorize basic sentences in order the public servant to understand what you want,. Nothing complicated, just plain sentences3. In my case, I went to the office with the following documents and the lady serving me did accept all of them without any issue: your driving license (the want you want to exchange in my case), passport, temporary/permanent résidence in CZ, your work contract, rental contract of your apartment, lítačka and health insurance card (VZP) for example. They will make a copy of all those documents.4. You will be given a document there (you don't have to print anything form) and you will fill it with your name, DOB, today's date and signature and mark that you have (or not) a full permit driving license without restrictions.5.Once that is done, the public servant will take a picture of you (just there) since probably you are not in the registry. So you do not have to take any picture with you at all.6. Finally they will ask you to pay: 200 crowns and you will get your CZ license in 20 days or 700 and you get it in 5 days. I chose the standard option and then they will ask you to go and pay the fee at the pokladna, which you can't miss as it is close to the main entrance.7. Pay with cash or card, you will get your receipt and just wait for it... Once it is ready book another appointment online to pick it up.I have to say that the servant was very polite and helpful, but I guess it also depends the person behind the glass. So my recommendations is to there prepared and with everything ready and make the effort to memorize some sentences in Czech... Not the best approach if you directly ask the servant to speak English since that won't be a good start!

As a citizen of an EU country I still had to live in the Czech Republic at least during 5 months to be able to apply for the driver's license. I also had to bring a document proving the reason of my stay (like a job contract, family ties, payments for social insurance etc.) Otherwise friendly and helpful staff. Waiting time - 1 minute if registered via internet, and approx. 20 minutes if waiting in the live queue.
